Jennifer Matarese interviews McLendon-Covey who plays "Beverly".

NEW YORK (WABC) -- "The Goldbergs" is back on ABC in its second season, and this year the show is planning a special tribute episode to John Hughes' "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". You may remember last year "The Goldbergs" paid homage to "The Goonies".

What this tribute episode will entail remains to be seen, but it will be spectacular! Wendi McLendon-Covey who plays "Beverly Goldberg" says that she expects it to be a lot of fun.

She thinks the key to the show's success is that it is one of the few shows that families can sit down and watch together. McLendon-Covey also said that the show stays true to the relationships between the family members and how "cringe worthy" they are.

This week, we'll see the Halloween episode! Among other shenanigans, Beverly will take the kids' Halloween candy to the hospital to be x-rayed. Who remembers the push to have your candy examined by your parents in the 80's?

To hear more about where she gets her moves and working with the rest of the cast check out the full interview with Wendi McLendon-Covey above!

You can watch "The Goldbergs" each week on Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30 p.m.
