Mexican immigrants reunite with parents, grandparents in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN (WABC) -- There were dozens of tearful family reunions, decades in the making, at Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Mexican immigrants who now call the Tri-State area home were reunited with parents and grandparents they hadn't seen in years.

The mass family reunion was arranged by Mi Casa Es Puebla, an organization that offers free legal assistance to immigrants from the Mexican state of Puebla.

That's the same area affected by an earthquake last month.

90 parents and grandparents from Mexico were granted three-week tourist visas to enter the United States.

Organizers say this event really puts a face on the ongoing debate over immigration in this country.
