Boar head found near restaurants in Berkeley
Berkeley police want to know who left the remains of a boar outside two vegetarian restaurants on Monday.

BERKELEY, Calif -- Berkeley police want to know who left the remains of a boar outside two vegetarian restaurants.

On Monday morning, the manager of Herbivore restaurant said a skinned animal had been perched on top of a newsstand across the street from the business. But when officers arrived on the scene, there was no boar to be found near the business on Shattuck Avenue near Haste Street.

Another discovery was made later Monday morning near Flaco's restaurant on Adeline and Emerson streets. Officers collected the remains of a wild boar and turned them over to city animal control.

Police are not sure whether there were two different boars or if the same one had been spotted twice, with someone moving it between sightings.

Police did not say what, if any, motive might be linked to the gruesome discoveries.
