PINE LAKE PARK, NJ (WABC) -- Manchester Township Police are advising residents to inspect all trick-or-treat candy after a parent apparently found a toothpick shard in a Tootsie Roll her child received.

The mother told police she went trick-or-treating door-to-door with her child. Later, she apparently bit into a Tootsie Roll received during trick-or-treating and discovered the piece of wood. She reported the incident to police.

The township mom told police that her family mainly trick-or-treated on Madison Avenue, 12th Avenue and Birmingham Avenue in Manchester's Pine Lake Park section.

Upon further inspection, the mother said she found another suspicious Tootsie Roll with a punctured wrapper but no toothpick inside.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Manchester Township Police at (732) 657-6111.
