THE place to celebrate a 102nd birthday? White Castle, of course!

MASSAPEQUA (WABC) -- The secret to a long and happy life may be eating White Castle burgers.

A woman from Massapequa, a former dietician, celebrated her 102nd birthday at White Castle.

She's even been inducted in the fast food chain's White Castle Cravers Hall of Fame.

From the decorations, to the cake, to the singing, there was no doubt Thursday afternoon that Madeleine Turpan is the queen of this castle: White Castle, that is.

"The best birthday I've ever had," said Madeleine.

For her 102nd birthday, Madeleine celebrated with friends, family and plenty of those famous square burgers.

She has loved White Castle food for more than 70 years and stops by the restaurant at least once a month.

"We go out to some other real fine restaurants, but this is sort of a special tradition to her," said her nephew, Eugene Nifenecker.

"I met a lot of good friends at White Castle," said Madeleine.

She has seen much in her 100 plus years, but there is unshakeable loyalty to this place.

Madeleine, who still enjoys red wine with dinner, lives in a nearby assisted living center.

She went back to college and got her degree at age 75. She may love the greasy little burgers, but what really keeps her full is spirit.

"The best part so far today has been being right here, right now, with all these lovely people around here, every one of them. All friends," said Madeleine.
