McSorley's shut down due to violations
Lauren Glassberg reports McSorley's Old Ale House was closed due to violations.

EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- McSorley's Old Ale House, one of New York City's oldest bars, was temporarily closed by the health department for evidence of rats, vermin and food at wrong temperature.

The East Village bar was shut Tuesday by the health department.

The total number of violations issued added up to more than 28 points, which would have earned it a C. However, there were things that couldn't be fixed immediately that led to the closure.

In order to reopen, McSorley's will need to correct the problems and request a reopening inspection.

People walking past the restaurant posted photos on social media.
