HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WABC) -- The parents of a New Jersey preschooler who died of the highly-contagious respiratory illness Enterovirus D68, announced Friday that they have started a foundation in his memory.

The virus claimed the life of 4-year-old Yardville Elementary preschooler Eli Waller.

His father Andy announced the formation of The First Day of School Foundation for students involved in special education.

"It's a foundation designed to provide financial support for students who are entering into the special education world," said Waller.

Eli Waller died on September 25 at his home after showing symptoms of the respiratory illness.
