NEW YORK -- The New York Public Library is offering book lovers an outdoor reading room.

The pop-out space opens Tuesday outside its landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street.

It'll be available Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Aug. 15 - weather permitting.

The campaign is called Library Inside Out: Read Everywhere. It offers wi-fi, books recommended by librarians, library card sign ups and seating.

The campaign also has a social media component. The public is invited to post photos of themselves on Twitter or Instagram reading in their favorite spots using the hash tag iReadEverywhere.

The library says the open-air reading room will give the public a taste of what it offers inside. It says it's also a tribute to its grand reading rooms.
