Car in Islip Terrace catches fire; 1 arrested

1 arrested, 3 rescued after car catches fire on Long Island

ISLIP TERRACE, Long Island (WABC) -- Police rescued three people from a burning car in Islip Terrace and arrested one man overnight.

After 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Suffolk County Police Highway Patrol, Jon Moser was driving a 2008 Nissan southbound on Craig B. Gariepy Avenue and the Sunrise Highway North Service Road when he crashed into a concrete divider.

The vehicle became fully engulfed in flames, and three Highway Patrol officers and a Good Samaritan pulled all three men, who were unconscious, out of the vehicle. Firefighters from the Islip Terrace Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Moser, 27, of Shirley, and one passenger were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. The other passenger was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment. All had non-life-threatening injuries.

Moser was charged with driving while intoxicated.
