1 dead after fire in abandoned Brentwood home

BRENTWOOD, Long Island (WABC) -- A homeless man was found dead after an overnight fire in an abandoned home on Long Island.

The flames broke out at 141 8th Street, near 2nd Avenue, in Brentwood.

Authorities say the body was found on the first floor, and firefighters combed through the home looking for additional victims.

It is believed the victim was a homeless person who was squatting at the house.

No other injuries were reported.
