WEST ISLIP, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police are looking for suspects who invaded a home where two families live in West Babylon Thursday night and put one man in the hospital.

Suffolk County police responded to a 911 call at 9:24 p.m. to Newkirk Avenue, where three or four masked men with handguns entered the home.

Two couples live in the house, along with five children, ages 4 to 10, and an elderly woman.

Saima Bajwa was home with the kids and her relatives when the one of the men tried to force his way inside.

"Big guy having a gun in his hand, I actually locked the door," she said. "He hit it so hard that the locked door was open."

The suspects forced the three women, a man and the children into a bedroom. The husband of one of the females was at work.

"He said 'lie down everybody,'" she said. "He said 'I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to stay here for the whole night. Nobody move. Nobody talk. We shoot you if you talk to each other. Don't move your heads.'"

She said that everyone obeyed the suspects' commands, and that the children complied perfectly.

"I was just hoping they close their eyes," she said. "They just shouldn't look."

A man described as a friend of the landlord happened to be in the backyard at the time, and after police say he was assaulted and beaten, he was dragged in to lie with the rest of the victims.

"They got him too," she said. "He was hurt. They beat him. He was crying, he was lying down in the room with us later on. They grabbed him inside the room."

He sustained injuries to his head and body and was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. None of the family members were injured.

Bajwa's family owns a gas station nearby, and she believes the men knew that and figured they would have a lot of cash in the house.

"Money, money, money," she said. "He kept saying, 'I need more, I need more.'"

The suspects fled with cash and jewelry.

Police believe the victims were targeted.

The investigation is continuing.
