Gas station attendant shot during robbery in Huntington Station

HUNTINGTON STATION, Long Island (WABC) -- Police are trying to find the gunman who shot a Long Island gas station attendant.

A man wearing a mask and carrying a gun approached an attendant at the gas pumps of the USA gas station in Huntington Station Monday night and demanded cash, police say.

A confrontation ensued and the robber fired a shot, hitting the victim in the leg. The suspect fled on foot with cash.

The victim was taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of his injury.

The suspect is described as approximately six feet tall, with a thin build.

The investigation is continuing.
