Police looking for suspect in random slashing of man in East Village

Man randomly slashed in broad daylight in East Village
Darla Miles has the details from the East Village.

EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are on the lookout for a suspect in an unprovoked slashing Saturday afternoon in the East Village.

A 30-year-old man was walking down East 6th Street near Cooper Square with headphones on around 4:30 p.m. when he was knocked to the ground.

When he got up, he touched his face, and realized that he had been slashed.

The victim has a large laceration to the right side of his face, and a small laceration on his back.

The suspect is described as a Asian male between 20-30 years old, 5'3', and 150 pounds. He was said to be wearing a dark-colored coat and a dark-colored skull cap.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

The attack comes after two other random slashings - one in Chelsea, and one in the East Tremont section of the Bronx.
