$63M winning lottery ticket unclaimed as deadline looms

CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES -- One lucky winner is holding onto a $63 million SuperLotto ticket they won in August of 2015, but they could become very unlucky if they don't claim their prize in two days.

The winning ticket, featuring the numbers 1, 16, 30, 33, 46 and the mega number 24, was sold at a 7-Eleven in Chatsworth on Aug. 8, 2015.

But the winner hasn't come forward to claim the winnings, and if not claimed by the close of business on Thursday, it would be the highest unclaimed California Lottery prize on record.

The previous record for unclaimed prize money stands at $28.5 million.

If no one claims the winnings, the money will be redirected to support California public schools.

But if the lucky winner comes forward in time and takes a lump sum amount, lottery officials said the winner would receive $39.9 million before federal taxes.
