DELRAY BEACH, FL -- Several high school students in Florida are recovering after a stunt performer's routine at their pep rally went horribly wrong.

The stunt man actually caught fire.

That performer, Ricky James, suffered first-degree burns to his face after trying to jump over a ball of fire.

Some students ended up in the hospital for breathing-in fire extinguisher residue.

The "Inferno's Challenge" performer said he has been doing the routine for more than 30 years, but he used a new lamp oil that he had never practiced with before.

The school district tells local station WPTV it's looking into policies about who can perform and whether the act has visited and performed at different schools.
