Two people hurt after car crashes into Bronx restaurant

2 hurt when car careens into Bronx restaurant

WAKEFIELD, Bronx (WABC) -- Two people were hurt after a car slammed into a restaurant in the Bronx.

The accident happened at Bronx Uptown Seafood Market on 3926 White Plains Road and East 223rd Street in the Wakefield section just after 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Hyundai Elantra jumped the curb and hit a man sitting inside the restaurant. Upon arriving at the scene, Eyewitness News noticed a man near the front door being attended to by medics. Police quickly arrived on scene, and that man was placed on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, this all stemmed from an accident between two cars. One car was making the turn on East 223rd Street, and another car collided with it. The driver then lost control and slammed into the restaurant. The NYPD Investigation Team is still trying to determine more specifics as to what caused all of this.

Eyewitness News is told the drivers who were involved in the accident remained on the scene.

There is no word yet on the condition of the restaurant patron who was injured.
