NEW YORK (WABC) -- The nanny accused of murdering two young children in her care on the Upper West Side rejected a plea deal Thursday.

The judge offered Yoselyn Ortega, 53, 15 years to life for each murder which would run consecutively.

The District Attorney's recommendation is life without parole.

Ortega is accused of murdering 6-year-old Lucia and 2-year-old Leo Krim inside their apartment back in 2012.

The children's mother, Marina Krim, was picking up her other child, Nessie, from a swimming lesson when she returned to find Lucia, affectionately called Lulu, and Leo dead in the bathtub.

Ortega also reportedly tried to stab herself, but survived her self-inflicted injuries.

Ortega is due back in court on May 5th.

Marina and Kevin Krim welcomed a baby boy named Felix two years ago and recently had another baby boy named Linus in January of this year.
