6 people hurt after church van flips in Queens hit-and-run

JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) -- Police in Queens are looking for the driver who slammed into a church van and ran away from the scene.

Six people were hurt Friday night in the hit and run crash.

Just before 11 p.m., the van was traveling east on Shore Avenue when it reached the intersection of Princeton Street. The 2000 Dodge passenger van was struck by a 2016 Ford sedan traveling south on Princeton after the Ford ran a red light, according to the New York City Police Department.

The van was t-boned and flipped on its side. The victims from the van were taken to Jamaica Hospital with minor injuries. All have been released.

The victims are: a 22-year-old man; a 20-year-old woman; a 23-year-old woman; a 15-year-old girl; and 2 3-year-old boys.

A parked car was also damaged in the collision. The Ford was a rental.

The van belongs to HopeNYC, a religious community.

The driver of the Ford sedan fled, police said, and is being sought.
