PERTH AMBOY, New Jersey (WABC) --A truck driver from New Jersey was shot and killed in an apparent road rage incident in Florida.
George Guerrero, 44, of Perth Amboy, was found dead near Jacksonville, Fla., inside the cab of his tractor-trailer on Saturday afternoon.
One of the sisters and son of George Gerrero have heavy hearts full of emotion and are also angry calling the road rage murderer a coward.
They spoke to Eyewitness News exclusively, making it clear they want the suspect caught quickly.
"How would he like it if he took one of his family members? How would he like it if they took his mom or one of his brothers or sisters?" said Dina Gerrero, the victim's sister.
Gerrero has always called Perth Amboy home and was the breadwinner for a close knit family.
The 44-year-old stared his own business a couple of months ago and was hauling goods in Florida and Georgia.
"He bought his own truck and now they want to go and kill him after they see him shining, shot three times for what?" said Christopher Gerrero, the victim's son.
The road rage incident happened in broad daylight Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville on busy interstate 10.
Gerrero apparently changed lanes after driving through a construction area.
The driver of another tractor trailer pulled next to him bumped Gerrero's truck and fired three shots.
The victim's truck veered off the road before it came to a stop in a wooded area next to the highway.
"He always told us he wanted us to make it. He was helping my aunt," Christopher said.
Gerrero's dog, Aria, was in the truck but was unharmed.
The suspect's semi-truck, described as an early to mid-2000 century or Columbia Freightliner cab, dull orange in color. It was pulling a 53-foot white trailer, and was driven by a black man with a beard.
The truck possibly has front end damage to the passenger side.
Gerrero's family has a strong message for the shooter.
"I hope they find him and may he suffer for taking my brother," Dina said.
