JONES BEACH (WABC) -- Long Island native David Windmiller has been flying since he was a teenager, but he's not your ordinary pilot!

David took his first solo flight on his 16th birthday, and the next year he started aerobatics without any training before he even had his pilot's license.

He flies the world's #1 aircraft for aerobatics, the Zivko Edge 540.

The Zivko is capable of a 420 degree per second roll rate and a 3,700 foot per minute climb rate, allowing for incredible stunts that leave air show spectators in awe.

In 1999 he earned a spot on the United States Aerobatic Team. During his three years as a valued team member, David flew in the 2000 World Championship in France, finishing fourth in freestyle competition.
