JONES BEACH (WABC) --Thousands of people from all over the Tri-State area will gather at Jones Beach Saturday night for the Bethpage Air Show.
With beautiful beach weather, crowds began arriving bright and early Saturday morning, and there was heavy traffic getting to Jones Beach.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Bethpage Air Show will go daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The main attraction features the U.S. Navy Blue Angels return and new F-35 Lightning II Stealth Fighter.
Additional performers include the Golden Knights, Breitling Jet Team, American Airpower Museum Warbirds, Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds and more.
People packed the boardwalk and the sand at Jones Beach.
"It's a blast for the kids to see. Support the troops and everything. Beautiful day like this. Why not be out here?," said Astoria resident Milan Jurcec.
The air show is a lot of fun but people say it's important to remember what this weekend is really about.
"We're here to celebrate and memorialize those who have sacrificed for our country and our freedom. It's a special day. We have to all remember that," said Massapequa resident Andrew Schinkel.
Be sure to tune in for our "Kickoff to a Long Island Summer" at 7 p.m. Saturday on Channel 7. The show will also be streamed at ABC7NY.
We also have a full page dedicated to the air show, including 360 videos of vintage aircraft in the sky.
