Virginia man finishes 10k race after heart attack

RICHMOND, Va. -- A Virginia man proves the old saying "better late than never" is especially true when it comes to running - or walking - 10k races.

Bill Hughes finally finished the Richmond, Virginia, 10K nearly two months after he started it.

He dropped out of the race back in March because about halfway through he collapsed from a heart attack.

Luckily, his daughter was running alongside him and quickly started CPR while others called 911. Following surgery, several weeks of therapy and a lot of help, Hughes finished the race on Sunday.

Hughes says he hopes his survival story encourages others to learn CPR and to try and stay active as long as they can.
