Mount Vernon mayor unveils plan to revitalize Memorial Field

MOUNT VERNON, New York (WABC) -- Memorial Field in Mount Vernon was the backdrop to a classic Super Bowl commercial nearly 40 years ago, but it has since become an eyesore and a place for illegal dumping.

Besides the commercial, families for generations attended graduations and games there.

Now, Mayor Richard Thomas hopes the community will come together to save it, at an estimated cost of more than $14 million.
