STUYVESANT TOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police have made an arrest in a brutal attack on a woman near Stuyvesant Town.

Frankie Simmons, 25, of New York, has been charged with robbery, sexually motivated assault and strangulation.

According to the New York City Police Department, on May 29, at 18th Street between First and Second avenues, Simmons grabbed a 30-year-old victim from behind, placed her in a chokehold and dragged her to the floor.

He punched her in the face several times, breaking her eye socket, knocking her out, then disappeared.

Her underwear had been pulled down and her cellphone was missing.

The victim, who is not a resident of Stuyvesant Town, can no longer see out of her left eye.

Police announced the arrest on Monday; Simmons was arrested Sunday night.
