2 shot, 1 fatally, in Hempstead neighborhood

HEMPSTEAD, Long Island (WABC) -- Police are investigating after a shooting in a Long Island neighborhood Thursday morning that left one person dead and another wounded.

The shooting occurred at Lawson Street and Pierson Avenue in Hempstead just after 4 a.m.

The shooting appears to have occurred inside.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

There have been no arrests, and no word yet about a motive.
