Search for suspect who slashed man who came to defense of dog on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND (WABC) -- Police are searching for the suspect who slashed a man who came to the defense of a dog.

The man was slashed in the head after he tried to confront a man for punching and beating a dog with a belt.

Surveillance shows the two men punching, kicking and beating dogs in front of a home on Staten Island on May 24th.

Investigators say the victim tried to intervene but the suspect pulled out a knife and slashed him above the eye.

Police released surveillance video that they say shows the suspect walking with another man, who was holding a white dog on a leash. Detectives are looking to speak with both of the men.

Anyone who recognizes either of the suspects is asked to call police.
