Multi-vehicle crash in Queens kills pedestrian, critically injures bicyclist

CORONA, Queens (WABC) -- At least one pedestrian was struck and killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Corona, Queens on Thursday evening.

It happened just after 6:30 p.m. at Junction Boulevard and the Horace Harding Expressway service road.

A black Porsche was traveling westbound on Horace Harding Expressway service road at a high rate of speed, according to police, when the driver lost control. The Porsche jumped onto the sidewalk, hit a 21-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman riding a bicycle.

The Porsche continued into the southbound lane of Junction Boulevard where it hit a Mini Cooper and a Toyota Camry that were waiting for a traffic light to change.

When the Porsche finally stopped, the man inside jumped out and ran away northbound on Junction Boulevard.

He's described as Hispanic and in his 50's. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The pedestrian, bicyclist and driver of the Mini Cooper were all rushed to Elmhurst General Hospital where the 21-year-old woman died of her injuries. She had become trapped under the vehicle according to witnesses. The bicyclist is in serious condition.

The driver of the Camry suffered just minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
