Woman held hostage, tortured, sexually assaulted in Detroit home, police say

DETROIT -- A woman was kidnapped, tortured, sexually assaulted and held hostage for three days in an abandoned house on Detroit's west side, police said.

A 49-year-old man allegedly grabbed the 54-year-old woman Thursday as she got out of her car at a store.

Police said the victim was stabbed several times before she managed to break a window and escape her captor Saturday night.

She ran for about a block, nearly naked, before she found help, witnesses said.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.

Police sources told WXYZ the suspect was taken into custody Sunday. His identity has not been released.
