East Harlem home invasion leads to triple stabbing

EAST HARLEM, New York (WABC) -- Three people were stabbed in a home invasion in East Harlem early Saturday.

At 1:30 a.m., according to the New York City Police Department, three men knocked on the door of an apartment in a New York City Housing Authority building at 50 East 104th St.

A resident answer the door and two of the men pushed their way into the apartment. Police said they stabbed a 22-year-old man in the head and a 24-year-old man in the back.

Police said they also slashed a 71-year-old woman's fingers when she tried to intervene.

One of the male victims tried to escape by locking himself in a bathroom.

According to police, one of the assailants shouted, "this has got to stop," but the motive is unknown.

The victims were taken to St. Luke's Hospital where they are all stable.
