Bronx gas call leads to discovery of woman fatally stabbed

WAKEFIELD, Bronx (WABC) -- Firefighters responding to a report of a gas odor in the Bronx found a woman stabbed multiple times.

The gruesome discovery was made around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Cranford Avenue in the Wakefield section.

When the firefighters entered the home, they discovered that the stove was left on. They also found the body of 69-year-old Lilawatee Ramsaran face down on the living room floor, stabbed multiple times in the back.

They contacted police, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
