Fire at Bronx apartment building leaves 2 hurt

WILLIAMSBRIDGE, Bronx (WABC) -- One person was critically injured in an apartment fire in the Bronx Thursday morning.

The fire broke out inside a Fenton Avenue apartment in the Williamsbridge section just before 3:30 a.m.

An 89-year-old man was in critical condition and another resident sustained a less serious injury.

The accidental fire was sparked by an electrical extension cord, according to New York City Fire Department fire marshals.

There was no smoke alarm in the home.

The fire was quickly brought under control and the cause is under investigation.
