MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- One person was injured when he was struck in the head by a chunk of falling ice in Midtown Wednesday.

The incident happened around 1:45 p.m. on West 48th Street near Fifth Avenue, at the same building where another person was seriously hurt by falling ice back in 2014.

The building houses the Plaza Arcade (though the A in Arcade is missing from the facade), featuring predominantly gold shops in the Diamond District.

The victim was treated by EMS and taken to New York Hospital with minor injuries, and firefighters got to work removing any additional ice that posed a risk.

The falling ice also split in half the letter R in the sign on the front of the building, and the sidewalk was closed off to pedestrian traffic.
