Woman injured in Central Islip hit-and-run

A 23-year-old woman was injured in a hit-and-run incident on Long Island Friday night.

CENTRAL ISLIP, Long Island (WABC) -- Police are looking for a suspect in a hit-and-run Friday night in Central Islip.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, around 8:35 p.m., a 23-year-old woman was crossing Suffolk Avenue near Lowell Avenue when she was hit by a car.

After striking her, it fled the scene and was last seen heading east on Suffolk Avenue.

She was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was being treated for several injuries including a broken femur.

Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
