Billy Joel returns to Long Island to open up refurbished Nassau Coliseum

UNIONDALE, Long Island (WABC) -- Billy Joel, the 'Piano Man,' the 'Angry Young Man' has sold over 150 million records, and the Long Islander was the right guy to open up the newly refurbished Nassau Coliseum.

"We used to call it the old barn, but we can't call it that anymore because it looks pretty cool," said one concertgoer.

They spent $165 million dollars to fix up the 'old barn' after the Islanders left, and it's still a sore point for some fans.

"I won't go there anymore, I was a season ticket holder for over 15 years - it is impossible for a Long Islander to have a good time going into Brooklyn. They belong on Long Island," said a fan.

There were some complaints about the new Coliseum - the fact that fans had to pay $40 for parking. But for the most part, many say it is great for the economy, and good to have it in the neighborhood.

It's in Billy Joel's neighborhood, too.
