Two people were pulled from an early morning apartment fire in Bensonhurst.

BENSONHURST, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Two people were pulled unconscious from an apartment fire in Brooklyn early Friday.

They were taken to Maimonides Medical Center in unknown condition.

"Their status is undetermined, they are being treated at Maimonides Hospital," FDNY Deputy Chief David Maj said. "As far as the nature of their injuries, that's not determined. I don't think they were burned, but they were unconscious."

The fire, which broke out at about 3 a.m., was confined to the residents' third floor apartment. They were the only occupants.

"We found heavy fire on the third floor." Maj said. "It was a very bad fire, a lot of fire."

Other apartments sustained water damage, but most residents will be able to stay in their homes.

Two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
