Police say these two men attacked and tried to rape a young woman in Ridgewood

RIDGEWOOD (WABC) -- Police in Queens are looking for two people wanted in the attempted rape of an 18-year-old woman.

The alleged attack happened just before 3 a.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of Putnam Avenue and Seneca Avenue in Ridgewood.

Authorities say one suspect punched the girl in the head and tried to take her purse, while the other choked her and covered her mouth.

The first man then tried to sexually assault her but was scared away by a passerby.

The victim was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where she was treated and released.

Both suspects are described as Hispanic males in their early 30s, standing about 5-foot-5. The first was last seen wearing a striped shirt, white hat, camouflaged shorts and a backpack. The second, who also has a ponytail, was last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt with "Aero 199" on the left sleeve and a backpack.
