NEW YORK (WABC) -- Two pedestrians were injured when debris fell from a building in Midtown New York Wednesday morning.
A piece of equipment fell to the sidewalk between 47th and 48th streets on Seventh Avenue, hitting two people. Workers had been fixing an illuminated sign when a clamp that was being used to secure the sign fell. They said that because of the rain, the clamp fell out of their hands.
The sign is on a residential building over the M&M store. The clamp, which is about 12 feet long and weighs about 15 pounds, fell about 100 feet.
Both victims were put in neck braces at the scene and were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where they were treated and released.
