1 dead when minivan, NICE bus collide in Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE, Long Island (WABC) -- Police in Suffolk County are investigating after a minivan collided with a NICE bus, killing the driver of the van.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday on Conklin Street in Farmingdale.

Authorities say the minivan was traveling west on Conklin Street when it crashed into the bus in the eastbound lanes near Cherry Street.

The 39-years-old driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene. He was alone in the vehicle.

A driver and two passengers were on board the NICE bus at the time of the accident. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The identification of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.

The investigation is ongoing.
