Darla Miles reports on the hip-hop podcast host who pleaded guilty to gun charges.

A hip-hop podcast host pleaded guilty Thursday to federal gun charges in connection with the fatal shooting at a T.I. concert at Irving Plaza in which a bodyguard was killed and rapper Troy Ave wounded.

Daryl Campbell, who goes by "Taxstone," was arrested earlier this year after investigators revealed that he had an ongoing years-long public feud with Troy Ave.

The 31-year-old Campbell pleaded guilty to a pair of federal felony gun charges in connection with the incident, which took the life of Troy Ave's bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter.

Troy Ave is the only person seen in surveillance video pointing a gun at the concert, but federal prosecutors say Campbell is the one who brought it there, firing the shot that killed McPhatter.

A grand jury initially indicted him on attempted murder and weapons possession charges, even though his lawyer insisted he was not the aggressor and was acting in self-defense.

He even proclaimed his innocence in a rap song that was recorded over the phone from Rikers Island.

"I'm innocent, unless you charging me with being real from the very beginning," he rapped. "I'm innocent. That's a fact though."

Though the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's office has not charged Campbell with murder, prosecutors told the judge that he brought a firearm to Irving Plaza and fired multiple shots, including the one that killed McPhatter.

Investigators say he is seen on unreleased surveillance video fleeing the scene, and also say his DNA was found on the gun.

Campbell faces up to 20 years in prison.

Troy Ave still faces attempted murder charges, though he has maintained his innocence since day one. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office will only say the investigation is continuing.
