BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police have made an arrest in an attack on a man who was punched in the face while riding his bicycle in Brooklyn.

Gary Anderson, 26, of Brooklyn, has been charged with assault.

Domingo Diego-Tapia, a 38-year-old father of two, was critically injured in the attack on June 8. He suffered a severe head injury.

Around 1:30 a.m., Diego-Tapia was riding his bike home from work in Prospect Lefferts Gardens when a man punched him in the face on Fulton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant. He tumbled from his bike, striking his head on the pavement.

"It's a vicious assault, clearly came out of nowhere, just punched this man," NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said at the time. "We don't know the motive right now. We can't figure it out because we don't have enough information."

The victim's wife, Esther Diaz, said each day is a tremendous struggle for her and their two sons.

"For me, each day feels like a year," she said. "I feel a storm of emotions in one single day."
