Man killed, woman hurt in shooting near Bronx music festival

HUNTS POINT, Bronx (WABC) -- Police are searching for a gunman who walked up to a BMW in the Bronx and opened fire, killing a 34-year-old man and wounding a 34-year-old woman.

The vehicle was stopped at an intersection at about 6 p.m. Sunday when the shooter ran up, fired multiple shots and fled.

The man was hit in the chest and died at the scene.

The woman in the passenger seat was shot in the legs and was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where she is expected to survive.

According to police, the gunman fled in a white luxury sedan, possibly an Infiniti or a BMW, and drove away from Tiffany Street.

"We have a tall male, light skinned tall male, who fled the scene into a white car," said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce. "So right now my detectives are at that intersection pulling down video, see if we can get further information."

The shooting was near this year's Moksha Festival of Fun at the New York Expo Center on Oak Point Avenue. It is a large outdoor festival of music and body paint.

Ten other people were shot in Manhattan on Saturday night and Sunday morning, seven of them at a barbecue in Harlem.
