Beach-goers get early start on holiday weekend

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Many across the Tri-State Area are getting an early start on the extended holiday weekend, taking advantage of beautiful weather Friday to hit the beaches and boardwalks.

A record number of people are expected to travel over the Fourth of July weekend, encouraged by lower gas prices.

The shore is a popular destination, including Coney Island.
