It's not just Fireworks exploding in July. Sales on summer merchandise are popping everywhere

Retailmenot shopping expert Sara Skirboll says timing is key to save a bundle this month.

"Stores tend to get their summer item right around May so as a rule of thumb they keep things about two months before they go on sale," says Skirboll.

We saw swimsuits as low as $5 at Kmart where Dealnews.com's Ben Glaser says July 4th sales will be huge.

"Bikes, hiking gear, water sports. now it's going to be 40, 50% off," says Glaser.

Glaser's research uncovered a strange July sweet spot.

"These are the best prices on toys until Black Friday," he added.

Toys of all types, as well as gaming drop in price this month. Ben says take advantage and stock up on gifts now.

Another cheap July supply to buy now and use later, house paint.

"It's summer. It's too hot. No one thinking about home maintenance so stores are overflowing with paint supplies," says Glaser.

Amazon Prime members are ready to party on Tuesday July 11, it's Amazon Prime Day. The giant online retailer holds a site wide sale. Ben's inside tip: look for Amazon's own products to save the most.

Some July don't buys: grills and outdoor furniture. You'll see discounts for July 4th sales, but they're really heat up in August.

Ben also busts the myth that Broadway on sale in July, he says tourists and tony hype make tickets even pricier this month. Instead Ben says seek out a multitude of free summer events .
