JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (WABC) -- Investigators were back on the scene Monday morning looking for clues into the person responsible for shooting four people in Jersey City.

Wilkinson Ave. was quiet following Sunday night's violent encounter after two 18-year-olds, a 16-year-old and a 12-year-old were all shot.

Those in the area said they initially thought they were hearing fireworks, but they quickly realized it was gunfire.

The 16-year-old victim was rushed into the emergency room at Jersey City Medical Center after being shot in the back and stomach. Residents say the youngest victim lives near the site of the shooting, but no one was home at that location.

Unfortunately, surveillance cameras on the block are not functioning, and a witness says even one victim refused to tell police who fired the gun. For many living on the block, staying off the street is the only way to live.

All of the victims are expected to survive. The 18-year-olds were struck in the arm, and the 12-year-old was shot in the back. They are all listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information on the shootings is asked to call police.
