Beach-goers get early start on 4th of July holiday

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Many across the Tri-State Area are getting an early start on the Fourth of July, taking advantage of beautiful weather to hit the beaches and boardwalks.

It's an extended holiday weekend for many, and a record number of people are expected to travel throughout the week, encouraged by lower gas prices.

The shore is a popular destination, including Orchard Beach.
