Train or car? Eyewitness News reporters see which is faster ride to work
Eyewitness News reporters Nina Pineda and Anthony Johnson met at the Maplewood train station to see who would have the quickest ride to work.

MAPLEWOOD, New Jersey (WABC) -- The chaos expected from the Penn Station repair work had many commuters choosing to drive in to work Monday morning, even though the so-called Summer of Hell kicked off without any major issues.

We wanted to compare the modes of transportation, to see who had the easier commute from New Jersey to get to work at our studios on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Eyewitness News reporters Nina Pineda and Anthony Johnson met at the Maplewood train station, which they both departed at 6:05 a.m.

Anthony set out for Manhattan by train, while Nina was hitting the road.

Anthony's train arrived in Hoboken on schedule at 6:33 a.m., as Nina was approaching the Lincoln Tunnel.

Anthony Johnson was live in Hoboken to update us on his progress in getting to work.

And the winner is: Nina! She arrived first, by about 15 minutes.
