Search on for driver in Washington Heights hit and run

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are searching for the driver involved in a hit and run in Washington Heights.

Eyewitness News has learned that police had tried to pull over that same driver just nine blocks before the crash.

The accident happened just after 9 p.m. Monday night at West 155th Street and Riverside Drive. The 36-year-old victim was crossing the street when he was hit by the driver of a gray BMW X5.

The driver kept going north on Riverside Drive, leaving the victim with a fractured elbow.
