Man beaten, robbed of iPhone in Brooklyn dies month after assault
Darla Miles has the details on the deadly assault.

CYPRESS HILLS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A man who was beaten and robbed of his cellphone in Brooklyn died more than a month after the attack.

The NYPD said 50-year-old Huiping Wu was robbed at about 7 p.m. on June 24 about a half-block from his home on Barbey Street in the Cypress Hills section.

When officers arrived, they found Wu with abrasions to his mouth and face. Police said they were told that a man approached Wu, assaulted him and stole his iPhone 7 from his right hand.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he was in stabled condition at the time.

His family said he was released from the hospital and then later readmitted. He died on July 31.

They added that he had come to the U.S. to make a better life for his family.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.
