JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (WABC) -- A federal agent executing a search warrant in a Jersey City house was bitten by a dog and then shot in the foot by another officer attempting to subdue the animal.
The officer was part of a task force entering the home on Bayview Avenue just after 6:30 a.m.
When the pit bull attacked the officer, a NYPD officer working with the U.S. Marshals in the execution of the warrant opened fire, killing the dog.
One of the rounds struck the federal agent in the left foot. The Marshal was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
The dog was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was taken into custody on the warrant, and charges are pending.
He was identified as 25-year-old Javan Reaves, who is a suspect in a robbery that took place in New York.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is investigating.
