JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) -- Free bus service is being offered at LaGuardia Airport during the Labor Day weekend.

The service is aimed at encouraging the use of mass transit and moving passengers to and from the airport during the next several days.

Nearly 500,000 passengers are expected to use the airport this weekend.

The Port Authority and MTA say they have developed a traffic management plan to deal with the higher demand.

The LaGuardia Link Q70 buses provide non-stop service linking the main terminals of the airport (Terminals B, C and D) with the New York City subway and Long Island Railroad transit hubs in Jackson Heights and Woodside, Queens.

The Port Authority says it is prepared to accommodate more than 7 million travelers during Labor Day weekend.

Construction that would impact traffic at all Port Authority crossings will be suspended for the holiday weekend to expedite travel.
